Peak bagging begins

Becca and I flew into Atlanta yesterday morning and drove to Brasstown Bald in northern GA. They have a shuttle service that takes you to the top and some trails that go down the mountain from the visitors center at the parking lot for some added hiking.

We only did about 2 miles out and back as the terrain was more challenging than Becca expected and was willing to take on. We got an early start to Clingman's Dome in TN as a result and ended up catching the sunset there.

We decided to skip the long hike at Clingman's today since we caught the sunset yesterday (and only managed 2 miles yesterday and today was going to be at least 7.7). Instead, we are grabbing breakfast at a cute bakery/deli in town and then doing some less strenuous hiking at a nearby waterfall.

Heading to Asheville, NC later today and will tackle the big 11 mile roundtrip hike to Mount Mitchell tomorrow!
